This entry level qualification provides you with hands-on experience so that you gain a thorough understanding of what it’s like to be an early childhood educator working with young children and families. You will develop skills and knowledge in areas such as:
- How to build and create play resources and learning materials to support children 0 – 6years
- How to care for and nurture babies, toddlers and young children
- How to work with families to support their child’s development and well-being
- Understanding the critical factors related to the Identifying and responding to children and young people at risk
- How to support sustainable practices in a children’s centre
- How to observe, analyse and gather information to plan for children’s learning
Assessment is ongoing throughout the training period – there are no final exams. Assessment includes:
- Knowledge-based assessment (Theory Tasks – online and in-class)
- Skills- based assessment (Workplace Tasks)
- Workplace observation (Observation Tasks)
Included in the course fee are the award winning textbooks written by Karen Kearns, CEO, of International Child Care College; ”The Big Picture” and “Birth to Big School”.
Students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement to be eligible to receive the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification (includes 30 hours workplace experience with children under 24 months). Student must be at least 17 years old at the time of enrolment.
