CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

Comprehensive training for beginning and continuing Early Childhood Educators.

This entry level qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings.

Students can enrol directly into this course however it is recommended to have completed the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care Prior to enrolling into this qualification.

Study mode: Blended learning incorporating online and workplace training

Materials Required: Learners will need access to a computer and the internet with the following specifications:

  • Microsoft Office 2003 or equivalent and
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 or Mac OS X

 

Learners will also need access to a printer and the following applications:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader and Macromedia Flash player.

Where learners are unable to access this technology, learners are able to request soft copy (USB) or hard copy (Paper documents) to allow for participation in the course.

Training with ICCC will ensure student learning focuses on the extensive development of skills and knowledge in pedagogical practices, service management and leadership, and prepares graduates to become future leaders, supervisors and managers of children’s services.

 

The course builds on existing skills and knowledge to continue the learning journey of an educator.

Assessment is ongoing throughout the training period – there are no final exams. Assessment includes:

Knowledge assessment (Theory Tasks)

Skills assessment (Workplace Tasks)

Observation assessment (Observable Tasks)

Included in the course fee are the award-winning essential textbooks: The Big Picture, Birth to Big School, Frameworks for Learning and Development, and The Business of Childcare.

 

Conditions of Enrolment & Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum age restrictions apply
  • Minimum numeracy and literacy skills apply
  • Students must be able to complete a minimum of 240 hours of work placement (includes 30 hours workplace experience with children under 24 months)
