Study mode: Blended learning incorporating online and workplace training
Duration: Years 10, 11 and 12 scheduled to complete all course work by the end of Term 3 and all work placement by the 31st December in the year of the student’s HSC.
Start date: Beginning of Term 4, Year 10 – End of Term 1, Year 11.

ICCC’s SBAT program provides you with hands-on experience to gain a thorough understanding of what it’s like to be an early childhood educator working with young children and families. You will develop skills and knowledge in:
building and creating play resources to support children 0 – 6years
caring for babies, toddlers, and young children
working with families
supporting children’s development and well-being
identifying and responding to children and young people at risk
sustainable practices in a children’s centre
observing, analysing and gathering information to plan for children’s learning
Assessment is ongoing throughout the training period – there are no final exams. Assessment includes:
Knowledge assessment (Theory Tasks)
Skills assessment (Workplace Tasks)
Observation assessment (Observable Tasks)
Included in the course are the award-winning textbooks: The Big Picture and Birth to Big School.
