International Child Care College is partnering with Tillys Play & Development Centre to bring you Tillys Gateway – Good Beginnings program. Offering an innovative and exciting learning opportunity, this blended program consists of face-to-face, guaranteed work placement, and self-paced online learning, all from the creative space at Tillys Waratah 2.

Eligible learners can enrol in CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care FEE FREE*

Qualification: CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

 

Study mode: Blended learning incorporating face-to-face, guaranteed work placement and self-paced online learning.

 

Location: Waratah, NSW

 

Duration: 12 months

 

Start date: August 2022

Materials Required: Learners will need access to a computer and the internet with the following specifications:

  • Microsoft Office 2007 or equivalent and
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 or Mac OS X

Learners will also need access to a printer and the following applications:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader.

How do I know if I’m eligible?

For learners to be enrolled FEE FREE under NSW Government Skilling for Recovery they must be:-

15 years old or over.

No longer at school.

Living or working in NSW.

An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen.

And be one (or more) of the following:

Job seeker. This includes someone who is unemployed, on income support payments or expected to become unemployed.

Young person (including school leaver) aged 16-24, regardless of employment status.

NSW veteran and their recognised partner or spouse.

Young person (including school leaver) aged 16-24, regardless of employment status.

Any individual (including an employed person) seeking fee-free* training in specific full and part qualifications in aged care, childcare, disability care, digital skills or Training and Assessment (TAE).

NSW learners may be eligible for subsidies under NSW Smart and Skilled Entitlement training programs. ‘This training is subsidised by the NSW Government’.

Unit/s may be delivered by an agent under a third-party arrangement.

Tillys Gateway – Good Beginnings program provides you with hands-on experience to gain a thorough understanding of what it’s like to be an early childhood educator working with young children and families. You will develop skills and knowledge in:

building and creating play resources to support children 0-6 years

caring for babies, toddlers, and young children

working with families

supporting children’s development and well-being

identifying and responding to children and young people at risk

sustainable practices in a children’s centre

observing, analysing and gathering information to plan for children’s learning

Assessment is ongoing throughout the training period – there are no final exams. Assessment includes:

Knowledge assessment (Theory Tasks)

Skills assessment (Workplace Tasks)

Observation assessment (Observable Tasks)

Included in the course are the award-winning textbooks: The Big Picture and Birth to Big School.

Conditions of Enrolment & Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum age restrictions apply
  • Minimum numeracy and literacy skills apply
  • Living and/or seeking work within the Newcastle and Hunter regions.
  • Students must be able to attend face-to-face classroom learning in Waratah
  • Students must be able to complete a minimum of 160 hours of work placement
