Comprehensive training for Early Childhood Educators looking to develop skills and knowledge in pedagogical practices, service management and leadership.

This qualification prepares graduates to become future leaders, supervisors and managers of children’s services.

 

This course builds on existing skills and knowledge to continue the learning journey of an educator.

Materials Required: Learners will need access to a computer and the internet with the following specifications:

  • Microsoft Office 2003 or equivalent and
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 or Mac OS X

 

Learners will also need access to a printer and the following applications:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader and Macromedia Flash player.

Where learners are unable to access this technology, learners are able to request soft copy (USB) or hard copy (Paper documents) to allow for participation in the course.

Course Description:

Training with ICCC will ensure student learning focuses on the extensive development of skills and knowledge in pedagogical practices, service management and leadership, and prepares graduates to become future leaders, supervisors and managers of children’s services.

The course builds on existing skills and knowledge to continue the learning journey of an educator, including:

✓     intentional teaching

✓     scaffolding play

✓     using the environment as the 3rd teacher

✓     managing compliance in service operations

✓     leading and managing others

✓     reflection and ongoing professional practice

Assessment is ongoing throughout the training period – there are no final exams. Assessment includes:

✓     Knowledge assessment (Theory tasks)

✓     Skills assessment (Workplace tasks)

✓     Observation assessment (Observable tasks)

Conditions of Enrolment & Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum age restrictions apply
  • Minimum numeracy and literacy skills apply
  • Students must be able to complete a minimum of 280 hours of work placement.
  • Students must have successfully completed CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or its predecessor CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
